Roper family from Norfolk England

As a way of sharing information with Roper cousins I have decided to start a blog and look forward to meeting long lost and undiscovered cousins.

My grandmother was Ada Roper, she was born in a small village on the Norfolk / Cambridgeshire border called Outwell.
Ada was born in 1881, one of 9 children born to George Henry Roper (born Docking, Norfolk) and Elizabeth (Betsey) Rutter.

Sadly I only met my grandmother on a handful of occasions - we called her Little Nan as she was just under 5ft tall. Ada married Zachariah Wilson in Outwell parish church in 1903 and they went on to have 9 children of their own. My father George was their youngest child.

I have a newspaper clipping from 1953 which shows Ada and Zachariah celebrating their golden wedding anniversary along with their daughter, also called Ada and her husband Frank who were celebrating their 25th Wedding Anniversary.

"Mr & Mrs Wilson, who live at Isle Bridge-Road, Outwell were married in Outwell Church on Oct. 19th, 1903.
Mr Wilson is 70 and has lived at Outwell for 54 years. He was born at Wereham, Norfolk and was for many years farm baliff under the late Mr. Henry Ward at Baupre Hall Farm. Mrs Wilson is a native and life-long resident of Outwell.
Mr & Mrs Wilson have 26 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. All four generations were represented at the party."

Perhaps you are related to Ada or Zachariah or also have Roper family from Docking in Norfolk.

I would love to share information with you.
